- Recognition for your component!
The Institute annually recognizes PMI Components for exceptional achievements. Yours could be one of them! The 2006 PMI Component Awards Application package was sent to all component presidents and chairs on 1 August 2005. The PMI Component Awards Program recognizes innovative, successful component programs, products and services. The award application is the medium for capturing this information electronically in a format that can be used by other components to duplicate or enhance their programs.
The PMI Component & Community Relations Department, in collaboration with the Component Services Member Advisory Group, hopes you will apply for a 2006 Component Award. As your component program year continues, now is the time to review the awards criteria and the Awards Application Tool Kit, found on the Component Leadership Online Community under Services—Component Awards. The deadline is 30 April 2006. For more information, please contact Anne Jenemann .

- PMI CEO visits with Canadian chapter leaders, executives and governance officers.
PMI Chief Executive Officer Gregory Balestrero spent several days in Canada last week meeting with senior executives from nearly a dozen Canadian companies. He also met with high-ranking officials from several governmental agencies, representatives of universities and technology training organizations, and members of the Boards of Directors of four PMI chapters in Canada. Beginning in Ottawa on Wednesday, 22 September, Balestrero visited with Nortel Networks and Carling Labs. He then delivered a keynote address to the 4th Annual Project Management Symposium, co-sponsored by the Department of National Defence and PMI's Ottawa Valley Chapter (OVC). He concluded the day over dinner with members of the OVC Board of Directors. On Thursday, 23 September, Balestrero spoke at a luncheon in Kitchener that included members and other professionals interested in project management.
Later in the day, he met with a group of senior PMO directors, university officials and the Board of Directors of Canada's Technology Triangle in Toronto. He later joined members of the Boards of the PMI Durham Highlands, PMI Lakeshore and PMI Southern Ontario Chapters for dinner.
In addition to producing meaningful dialogue with business and government leaders, practitioners and PMI chapter members and leaders, Balestrero's two-day visit provided keen insight on how project management is making a meaningful contribution to Canada's economic and technological development.
