Student membership in the Project Management Institute is open to students currently enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited, or globally equivalent, college or university. Applicants must enclose verification of current enrollment with a completed Individual Membership Application. Student Membership cannot be applied for through PMI's online membership application.
Verification should include the following information:
- The name of the school
- The name of the student
- The dates of the classes or term for which the student is enrolled
The examples of verification are: a current schedule or enrollment confirmation with the dates of classes or term, a student ID card.
Retiree membership
Retiree membership is open to any PMI member in good standing for five (5) consecutive years, who has retired from active employment. Applicants must enclose a letter stating that they are no longer actively employed with a completed Renewal Invoice.

PMI Group Billing Plan
The Group Billing Plan is a simplified group-invoice program for the individual membership, for employees of an organization. Participation in the program requires a minimum of 15 employee participant members. Each employee within the plan must join PMI and a minimum of one Chapter and one Specific Interest Group (SIG). Dues for each individual member under the plan are based on the established PMI membership fee and the standard fees for the Chapter and SIG selected. The individual membership application fee is waived for members joining under the Group Billing Plan.
Organizations can begin participating in the Group Billing Plan at any time throughout the year. An organizational contact person must be identified to receive group renewal invoices and to serve as a liaison between the organization and PMI. Once the plan is initiated, individuals employed by the organization can join PMI or renew their membership at any time during the year but only through the organization contact.
Become a Member of Your Company's Group Billing Plan
Individuals interested in participating in the Group Billing Plan can reference the to verify that their employer is a current participant. Once company participation is confirmed, individuals should communicate with their organization contact for more information.
Each Individual under the plan will receive one full 12-month membership in PMI. As participating employees' memberships near expiration, renewal invoices will be sent to both the individual and the organization contact. Individuals, in communication with their employers, will determine whether the organization or the individual will be responsible for renewing each plan participant's membership.
List a minimum of 15 individuals below who will become members under your organization's group plan. Attach one completed individual Membership Application for each new member submitted. The 15 individuals may be all new members, all renewing members, or a combination of new and renewing members. Please send payment now for those individuals under your group plan who are new members or individuals whose membership will be up for renewal within 3 months from date of this application. For all other renewals, your organization and the renewing members will receive invoices upon their individual membership expiration dates.
